Tator Tot Hotdish Can Cure the Plague

I was feeling rather low yesterday…

Thinking to myself…’I wish I could have tator tot hotdish tomorrow night’.  (Obviously one of my favorite “comfort foods” that my Mom used to make.)

My husband has been really good to me, taking care of dinners for us all…however, he decided to start a diet right after Easter which means he isn’t really making much for himself.

Normally, he cooks wonderful meals from scratch, but since he’s decided to start dieting, he’s making Gab and I something easy (aka frozen) and then he cooks up a chicken breast and veggies for himself.  And sometimes we join him on the chicken breast meal, but chicken every night just isn’t for me right now.

So I sat here…

admiring that wonderful husband of mine for doting on me…

and for being on that diet that I know I need to get on too (but post-surgery really isn’t the time)…

and I certainly didn’t want to ask him to make me anything special.

Then my friend Maggie texted me:

“Tator tot hotdish will be at your house for tomorrow supper and some dessert.  When is a good time to zoom by?  Lunch time maybe?  Hugs my friend.”

I cried.  I literally sat there and cried.

Bizarre, huh?

Not me crying (although it may be overly emotional…it’s not necessarily bizarre)

…but the whole thought to actual hotdish thing…

I call it a “God thing”.

Maybe it was Mom telling Maggie to bring me my favorite meal.

I don’t know, but as silly as this sounds,

it was just what I needed at that moment.

So today I got a hug from my friend Maggs.

A Tator Tot Hotdish for supper.

And she brought a Turtle Pie for dessert…

No diet for Tim tonight!

As I thanked her profusely explaining why her gesture and food meant so much, Maggie just laughed and said “Tator Tot Hotdish can cure the plague!”

I hope this finds you enjoying some good old comfort food…

ps, one more thing:

Since I didn’t get this posted last night, I have another story for you…

I had a thought today…that I needed to send our local Young Life coordinator an email to see if he’d heard anything back on my donation requests for our Sweet Spring Auction (May 10th).

I never did get around to doing the actual email…but lo and behold I received an email from him this afternoon and TaDaaaa!  We received 4 new donations for our auction!  Yippeeeee!

Must have been another God thing!

What should I wish for next?

Oh…and pps:  Tim’s making bbq pork for Saturday!  Wahoooo!

  3. Tuna Noodle Caserole seems to be a favorite in other parts of the state. As for me, I don’t know if I have a favorite food other then all food. I’m not too picky. My favorite is the soft taco dinner from Casa Zamora in Albert Lea Mn but I haven’t been able to have any of that in 10 to 15 years. Someday I’ll get some. 🙂
