Temp -33 and a Snowflake Tree to Warm My Heart

Well, if you haven’t heard, it’s been cold here in Minnesota. It’s been REALLY cold up here in Northern Minnesota – this morning we had -33 with a wind chill that brought it down to -50! Did it stop me from running errands? Oh no…hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to PT I go!

Sunday, I finally put away all the Christmas decorations…it only took 7 hours with my daughters help :)! My wonderful, incredible, patient husband brings the bins up from the basement…and carries them down when they’re full!

I decided to do something a little different this year with our Christmas tree. Last year we left the lights on and put the tree on the deck – it was beautiful through the patio doors, especially when it snows! This year we pulled all the ornaments off but kept (and added) snowflake ornaments and we kept it in the living room…it’ll be on the deck when it starts shedding its needles!

Isn’t it beautiful? It almost makes the cold temps outside bearable…almost.

Stay warm everyone! No matter where you’re reading this!

  1. We live in an ancient stone castle (well, one tower anyway) and while it’s not at MN brain-freeze temps, it’s still pretty cold. My husband also has a small apartment in a new development up in Glasgow where he’s teaching this year. It has central heat so it’s warm at the touch of a finger (instead of warmish when I make fires in every room’s fireplace in the Castle). He’s named his thermostat Mildred and I have a feeling he’s not planning to leave her until May at least. You think I can blame Mildred for the divorce?

    • Hahaha! It sounds like you need to name your fireplaces men’s names (some men are slow to warm up just like your fireplaces).

As far as Mildred is concerned, I’d definitely use her as grounds for divorce…do you think you dare put an ultimatum out there for your husband…it’s ME or MILDRED!? πŸ™‚

Stay warm – and thanks for commenting!

  2. The tree is beautiful. I had forgotten about the tree last year. I thought that was the best scene with the snow. It was so magical looking. Still can’t believe it is so cold for you (it’s cold here, too lol but not that cold). Youngest daughter–I don’t think they got over 7 degrees F yesterday–high of 13 today. I need hot chocolate!!! πŸ˜€ Stay warm and enjoy the tree. πŸ˜€

    • Thank you! It really is magical looking outside…but as you saw I just couldn’t put it out yet! We do go through a fair bit of hot chocolate here too – my daughters love it! Thanks for commenting!
