The Deal: Stocking Up on Christmas Supplies

Yesterday, Tim and I drove our middle daughter back to college…it was a fun trip with a some laughs and a nice chance to spend some time with just her.

We stopped to pick up some groceries for her at Target and, low and behold, they still had some Christmas items on clearance…I assumed they’d all be sold by now! I’m not one to travel to the stores for after Christmas sales, you see we live at least an hour away from a Target or a mall.

I made sure our daughter had dinner items in her cart to get her through at least the next few days (you see it’s supposed to be ungodly cold…down to -70 with the wind chill). (Hibernating weather) The governor even closed all public schools for tomorrow! Read more

One Cha-Cha Step at a Time

This is the year…

The yearΒ I take myself back.

Not to anywhere or to anything.

I take back me…control of my life.

Control of who I am. Read more

Merry Christmas from Motzy and Louis!

Look at these two innocent little faces…

Like they’re the sweetest little puppies in the world…

Louis arrived (along with Alex and Tom) on Saturday and the two puppies ruled the house until this morning when the three of them departed for another Christmas get-together.Β  It was 4 days of (controlled?) chaos!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful, crazy Christmas –Β like the one we’ve enjoyed here!

Best wishes to all – and may God bless you with true joy and love.

Witnessing a Story of Faith, Love and Support

What child is this, who, laid to rest, On Mary’s lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:

Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the son of Mary. So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh, Come, peasant, king, to own him. The King of kings salvation brings, Let loving hearts enthrone him. Raise, raise a song on high, The virgin sings her lullaby : Joy, joy for Christ is born, The babe, the Son of Mary.

—————————————————————————————

In this season, this ‘Christ’mas time, may we all stop our fun preparations:Β the decorating, present buying, wrapping, and cookie making…to reflect on Christ’s birth. The gift God gave us on this day…His Son.

The babe that would grow into a 12 year old child who would sit amongst the elders speaking wisdom in the temple.Β  The young manΒ who, whenΒ baptized, was descended upon by the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove and aΒ voice came from heaven, which said, “Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased”.Β  The man who would die on the cross to save us from our sins.

And God, the Father, watched from above.Β  He saw all the joy…He saw all the suffering.Β  He was there through it all…beside His Son.

On our worst days, we may wonder ‘Where is God?’.

He’s watching.Β  He’s waiting.Β  He’s with us, just as He was with His Son.

We just need to have Faith.

I’ve witnessed this show of faith.

First, in my husband’s Grandpa, who passed 12 years ago:Β  Frank was at home, having fought a good fight against cancer.Β  He was in hospice care…and he had faith.Β  In his last weeks he spoke about seeing Jesus there in the room with him.Β  And we knew…He was there.Β  He walked Grandpa home to Heaven…of that there is no doubt.

And in the past few months,Β  an incredible story of courage, faith, and love has filledΒ our small town – pulling it’s peopleΒ together in a show of support for an incredible young man suffering from leukemia. Read more

The Importance of Each Color

And with God’s Grace this Thanksgiving, let us all remember to appreciate one another.

morningstoryanddilbert's avatarMorning Story and Dilbert

Once upon a time the Colors of the world started to quarrel that they were: all the best, the most important, the most useful, the favorite.

GREEN said: β€œClearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees, leaves – without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority.”

BLUE interrupted: β€œYou only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing.”

YELLOW chuckled: β€œYou are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow…
