A Crazy Weekend of Fun!

What a fun-fantabulous birthday party for sweet little Elena!

Saturday was a crazy walk through the zoo so she could show us her tiger.  He seemed to know it was her birthday and proceeded to literally jump up – front paws on the window – right up to her!  She leaned back and the lower lip looked like it might tremble a little so we all told her he was just wishing her a Happy Birthday!

Never mind that he was looking at her like she was lunch!

Then the party all moved on to her Grandma’s house who made the BEST pizzas in the world!  YUM!

This little girl had quite a pile of presents and fans all sitting there cheering her on as she opened them.

Another year older…

{sigh}

They grow up sooooo fast…even the daycare babies!

Saturday was also the day we picked up Miss Samantha from college for the summer.  Freshman year is officially under her belt and now she’s considered a sophomore.  Only three more years and this young adult will get to enter the “real world” but she’ll be ready…just wait and see!

Now we’re back to the house of 4.

You parents of college age kids know what I’m hinting at…

Bringing the freshman back home entails some aches and pains for both her and us.

The adjustment of moving back home from being free and on their own…into the parents house where life has gone on without them.  Where room adjustments have been made.  Where the old rules and questions like “Where are you going?” might get asked.

And for us, it’s not just about bringing our child home, it’s about bringing this now adult home and re-adjusting how we do a few things around here.

Growing pains…

But good growing pains…

Because we have our girl back home…

Eeeeeeeee!!!

Today was a moving in/adjusting rooms kind of day…whew!

And this tired but happy Momma is signing off…

I hope you’ve had a blessed weekend!

  1. I remember living at home the first two summers after college. It was weird. It’s like I had one foot in the past and one foot in the future.

    • It’s funny – you can just see it in their faces…the uncertainty and frustration at times!
