Flowers and Cows and Worms – Oh My!

My father-in-law has said that I make things more complicated than they need to be.

Well…

Sometimes I guess I do.

Like when it comes to our yard…

It takes me days to “decorate” our yard and my gardens every year.  It’s ever evolving in a manner of speaking…new junk = new garden decor.  Remember the old saying:  ‘Your garbage may be someone else’s treasure’?

Yes…my yard is living proof.  I have dilapidated bird houses, old pans, old faucets, a few faded decor items…you name it.  But they look lovely now!  I love repurposing things, giving them a new home, and showing them a little love…even though they’re old, faded and worn out (hmmmm…maybe I’m describing myself?).

And as I’ve said before – I LOVE my gardens.

OK, in full disclosure, maybe there’s not a whole lot of love for my herb garden right now as it’s been taken over by weeds…you won’t find pictures of that one.

Here are a few bright and beautiful pictures from my flower gardens:

These are also in my flower garden, but I don’t know what they’re called (yes I’m one of those gardeners)…I call them “Bad Hair Day Flowers”:

Then I have some incredible Hens and Chicks (they’re everywhere, they’re everywhere!)…

See the tall one?  I call them “Roosters”.  One of our local garden center owners laughed at me when I told her the name…{sigh}…it made sense to me…Hens, Chicks, Roosters.

Oh well.  I did learn something new this year:  this beautiful show is the plants final hurrah – the individual “hen” does this just before it dies.  I’ll try to catch another picture when it blooms – it really is beautiful!

And then there’s my garden bench…here is where you get a peek at my “junk”….errr….tools….errr….decorations:

And yes, I decorate the vegetable garden too:  bird houses, bumble bees, bumble bee birdhouses ( 🙂 ):

This is my favorite sign, it reads:  Grow old with me, the best is yet to be… Of course put it with this great bird house and little gnome and it makes a wonderful little greeting as you enter the garage:
