Lord, give me strength…

I’m having a bit of a weak moment this morning, and when I have these moments, “Lord, give me strength” is my go to prayer.

You see, the past year has brought lots of these “pause and prayer” moments.  If we include not just immediate family, but add the mother and father in-law…we’ve had a total of 6 surgeries (sinus, elbow, major vascular bypass, ankle, and 2 cataracts), an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, 2 graduations & parties (high school and college), piriformis syndrome and shoulder issues causing me to be out of work for 5 months, 2 daughters moving (one into a new apartment and one into college), the college shuffle (painting and redoing the girls bedrooms…the youngest now gets the biggest room!).  Add in a winter of PTSD therapy last year (Thank you God for that!), and it’s been quite a year. Entropy, Humbled and Honored

I am amazed, absolutely amazed by the people (men and women) that are liking and commenting on my blog.

I started this little adventure after encouragement from my friend Jan, (who will someday be a guest blogger on here).

I never expected that anyone but my close friends and family might read it, ok, never is too strong a word…I admit I secretly hoped it could turn into something bigger, but c’mon now – I’m just me…in little Ely, Minnesota.

I’m not trying to be all cutesy – “oh it’s just lil’ ole’ me”.

After all – God made me – I must be something special.

But really – it’s just me…and I’m just from this little (albeit) beautiful town. Read more

A good kind of exhausted…

I’m exhausted today.

The kind of exhausted that comes from a crazy couple of days searching out the newest and greatest (at affordable prices) clothing and accessories at a buying show for our store.

The kind of exhausted where your brain just goes on hold and doesn’t want to think, and body begs for the couch…and Jessica Fletcher (Murder, She Wrote) reruns…and flavored Keurig coffee.

The kind of exhausted where you look out the window and see the temperature at -30 and want to pull up that blanket a little closer under your chin.

And yet… Read more

A Thankfully Imperfect Woman’s Epiphany Moment

As I sit here writing my first blog, I am eating a piece of my daughter’s twelfth birthday cake and having a cup of Vanilla Cream decaf coffee, and it’s 6:07 a.m.Yes, I am a thankfully imperfect woman.  I am a part of the middle class. A family raising, comic strip living, ever-grateful, Christian woman who’s main goal in life is to find something wonderful in every single day.

I have an incredible husband who I credit as my gift from God, I have three girls who are all growing up faster than their Momma would like (and who I’m very proud of), and I have my life…such as it is with my version of health issues.  I’ve had my version of hard knocks in life, I’ve lived the “I have to be perfect for everyone” life, and I’m here living in the NOW for me and my family.
