Humor and a Thankful Heart

Some days it’s hard to live with a thankful heart.

Some days you just want to crawl under the covers and stay there…although then I want someone who can bring me coffee and chocolate and as the day turns to night…a glass of wine.  And maybe a good Janet Evanovich book…oh wait…now I’m starting to feel better!

Looking at life with humor.

It’s a bit of a motto for me. Read more

And on the Other Hand, She Wore a Glove…

This quirky title comes to you thanks to my husband’s Grandpa Tony.

Grandpa Tony passed before my time, but in the fun stories of him, I’ve heard this saying repeatedly.

I’ve never quite understood it, yet I love it at the same time.

Some days we go and go and go…and then something makes us stop and think, “well?” (and this is where the saying comes in)…on the other hand, she wore a glove.

Now that I’ve put that in your head, you’ll never say “on the other hand” without thinking “she wore a glove”.

You’re welcome!

I thought of this saying this morning as I was looking at the post from yesterday and the lack of likes and responses.  I smiled to myself at the epic failure of the blog with only one respondent, however…then I realized…on the other hand, she wore a glove. Read more

Lord, give me strength…

I’m having a bit of a weak moment this morning, and when I have these moments, “Lord, give me strength” is my go to prayer.

You see, the past year has brought lots of these “pause and prayer” moments.  If we include not just immediate family, but add the mother and father in-law…we’ve had a total of 6 surgeries (sinus, elbow, major vascular bypass, ankle, and 2 cataracts), an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, 2 graduations & parties (high school and college), piriformis syndrome and shoulder issues causing me to be out of work for 5 months, 2 daughters moving (one into a new apartment and one into college), the college shuffle (painting and redoing the girls bedrooms…the youngest now gets the biggest room!).  Add in a winter of PTSD therapy last year (Thank you God for that!), and it’s been quite a year. I have a plan…

A plan is being hatched…

It involves my mother-in-law Barbara, myself, Tim’s truck, coffee and our local landfill.

I called her this morning and told her I needed a partner-in-crime.

OK, so it’s not really for crime…however my husband might equate it to a crime for me to bring  home some of the treasures I find.

Does he complain?  Well, no.  But I get the look.

And if he’s being particularly patient, I don’t get the look, but I know it’s still underneath that kind face.

Deep down there’s an eye roll.  I just know it. Read more

And then God laughed…

Does it ever feel like just when you have it all together, God laughs?

That’s how I feel today.

After months of waiting to heal…

realizing things weren’t healing…

getting referrals to specialists…

and finally starting to get some answers…

I thought I might be able to get back to work in short order.

And then God laughed… Read more
