The Women Who Inspire Me

There are so many inspirational women today…

some in the headlines…

others who have books written about them…

and then there are the ones who personally touch our lives.

These are the women I’m writing about today… Read more

There are Moments I’m a Hater…

I’ve always hated the word hate.

I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty positive person.

But there are moments I succumb to the world’s frustrations.

Just now was one of them…

I realized the toilet had plugged up once again…(let’s just say it happened before everyone left the house this morning so we don’t point fingers).

It’s a finicky toilet, that seems to plug up fairly regularly (no pun intended {insert faint smile}). Read more

220 Minus Your Age

As an adult the highest your pulse rate should go up is figured at 220 minus your age.

This fact (?) was just stated on last week’s episode of Bones that I’m just now watching – thank you DVR.

I enjoy watching Bones…not the blood and gore part, but there’s something fascinating to me about how they figure out who committed the murder.

Must be a flashback to my days of watching Murder, She Wrote with my Dad.  Which explains why I still love watching that show.

Angela Lansbury is my hero.  She lived this wonderful life teaching, and then reinvented herself after her husband passed away and Walaa! a mystery writer was born.  Of course, somewhere along the line murders started showing up in her life…weekly it seems if we go by the show’s schedule.  I always thought to myself…”Who on earth would want to be this woman’s friend – someone is always dying around her!”

Alas, I digress… Read more

The Ditch, the Dr. and the Datebook

Yesterday was an interesting kind of day.

A fairly early doctor’s appointment in the morning…a mere 2 hours away.  Add in a little funky weather.  A curve in the road where my tire seemed to catch an edge.  And awaaaayyyyy I went…spinning into the snow filled ditch.  Trust me, a strong prayer was said!

As I sat in the ditch, I said a quiet thank you to God…called 911…and then called the Dr.’s office desperately pleading for a later appt.

It’s amazing how good people are! Read more

And on the Other Hand, She Wore a Glove…

This quirky title comes to you thanks to my husband’s Grandpa Tony.

Grandpa Tony passed before my time, but in the fun stories of him, I’ve heard this saying repeatedly.

I’ve never quite understood it, yet I love it at the same time.

Some days we go and go and go…and then something makes us stop and think, “well?” (and this is where the saying comes in)…on the other hand, she wore a glove.

Now that I’ve put that in your head, you’ll never say “on the other hand” without thinking “she wore a glove”.

You’re welcome!

I thought of this saying this morning as I was looking at the post from yesterday and the lack of likes and responses.  I smiled to myself at the epic failure of the blog with only one respondent, however…then I realized…on the other hand, she wore a glove. Read more
