Monday’s Here…Bring on the Coffee!

Gasp…Gasp…crawling out of the weekend into another week…

Lots accomplished this weekend.  Garden harvested and cleaned out, fall decorations up, spray painted new/old goodies and furniture, birthday dinner and cake for Miss Alex, sewed in some clothes (for Gabi), cleaned up the house…etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

And, Alex, Tom and Louis came up Thursday night for a visit!  Mr. Louis had surgery (snip, snip…and hernia) on Friday with our favorite vet, Jen.  He was quite a trooper and back to normal by Saturday afternoon.  More stories to follow, of course as he and Motzy had loads of fun.

And…while they were here, Tom and Alex helped Tim put in our new fire pit and dig out an old sidewalk.  Tim and I jokingly called it the sidewalk to nowhere…it didn’t go all the way to the shop, and it didn’t match up with the garage door.  Gone, gone, gone!

There was a bonfire, toasted marshmallows, a game of Horse in the dark (with a light up basketball).  There were naps (ok, not by me…), visiting with the babies, and more craziness sprinkled throughout the weekend.

Pictures of the harvest, fall decorations, recipes, maybe a little story of the sewing swear session (I hate sewing machines), and more to come.

Sorry for the absence, this blogging thing takes a lot of time and I’ve had ENERGY.  More energy than I’ve had in a year…guessing it’s a thyroid thing…whooo heeeee!

Talk more soon!

Fire Me Now! Please!

So….I was being a good puppy Mom and Wife when I told Tim on Saturday “I’ll take Sunday morning!”  Since he’d taken puppy duty on Saturday a.m. and Motzy had gotten up at 5.  After all, we should take turns shouldn’t we?

Yeah, well…I hear Motzy at 3 a.m.

He’s never gotten up before 5 since we got him!

Hrmph.

Ok, fine – out we go and he does his duty.  We come back in and I lie on the couch while he runs around the living room playing with his toys and by 3:30 he’s lying down to sleep.

{insert fist pump}

I scoot him into his kennel and head back to bed.

The next wakeup call was at 6:07.

Out we go again, duties done, back in, and on the couch I go…and off goes Motzy to play with his toys.  At this point I’m exhausted.  Needless to say I zonked out.  Literally. I finally wake up all of a sudden at 7:20 as he decides to join me on the couch.  I look around (after escaping puppy licks that have now wiped my face clean) and find what you see in the picture behind one of our chairs.

Instant thought…”Huh…I’m so fired from this puppy watch duty”.

Damn.

Then it occurred to me that this may not be such a bad thing!

I clean up his mess and put him in his kennel (as he was falling back to sleep) and sneak back to bed.  I barely get laid back down and  he starts whining and barking again.

{sigh}

All I can think is, “I must really love this dog” and head back out where I take him out of his kennel and lay back down on the couch.

What happens next?

I’m sure you can see it coming…

Motzy joined me and fell asleep on the end of the couch.

I guess he loves me too.

Smile.

{Yawn}

Have a great Sunday everyone!

ps…I promise I will write about subjects other than my dog!

I Was Slammed by a 3-Year-Old

Yes, it’s another Elena story!

It was a baby day today.  Of course there were giggles, food, naps, and a little overall insanity once the cymbals and other musical instruments came out and the marching began.

And then there were the foam noodle fights, which were interrupted by moments of silliness where she directed where we were to place the noodles:  as horns on our head, as a long nose, big eyes, big cheeks (on the face) and many more.

But the best moment of the day was when I told Elena to go and get the brush from the bathroom so I could brush her hair.

She looked at me and said “Because you can’t get it?”

BAM!

She did say it very sweetly, as though she were concerned about why I couldn’t get it.  And I know a 3-year-old wouldn’t actually slam me…or would she?

🙂

The Puppy Chronicles

We are now on Day 6…

We’ve tried out about 6 or 7 names on him…I know I told you Castle was it.  Well, we changed our minds once again.  I was hedging on Castle, and then Tim called him “Motza-ball” yesterday when he did something silly.  That might sound silly, but it’s a term of endearment for dogs and little children when they’re being funny.  And a new name was born.  We’ll be calling him Motza or Motzy.  It fits…he is all white like mozzarella, and quite silly.

I am happy to report that he has us (almost) fully trained.  When he runs for the front of the house or bathroom, we know he has to go out to go potty (which is the other way).  We’re down to one accident in the house today (don’t ask how many times we run him outside 🙂 )! Read more

Top 10 Things I Look Forward To…

So here it is…

My list.

The list of things I look forward to.  This list is a combination of “bucket list” items and everyday items and “someday dreams” items.  It’s not put into order by my most important item as #1, it’s more in timeline order.

As I sat down to write this list I realized there are so many more things I could put on here.  The “little things”…like watching Gabi run cross-country races this fall, or her basketball games.  Or seeing Sam off to her 2nd year at college…and the daily phone calls when she’s gone.  Or the chances I get to see Alex, Tom and my adorable grandpuppy Louis (snorts and all).
