Temp -33 and a Snowflake Tree to Warm My Heart

Well, if you haven’t heard, it’s been cold here in Minnesota. It’s been REALLY cold up here in Northern Minnesota – this morning we had -33 with a wind chill that brought it down to -50! Did it stop me from running errands? Oh no…hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to PT I go!

Sunday, I finally put away all the Christmas decorations…it only took 7 hours with my daughters help :)! My wonderful, incredible, patient husband brings the bins up from the basement…and carries them down when they’re full!

I decided to do something a little different this year with our Christmas tree. Last year we left the lights on and put the tree on the deck – it was beautiful through the patio doors, especially when it snows! This year we pulled all the ornaments off but kept (and added) snowflake ornaments and we kept it in the living room…it’ll be on the deck when it starts shedding its needles!

Isn’t it beautiful? It almost makes the cold temps outside bearable…almost.

Stay warm everyone! No matter where you’re reading this!

The Deal: Stocking Up on Christmas Supplies

Yesterday, Tim and I drove our middle daughter back to college…it was a fun trip with a some laughs and a nice chance to spend some time with just her.

We stopped to pick up some groceries for her at Target and, low and behold, they still had some Christmas items on clearance…I assumed they’d all be sold by now! I’m not one to travel to the stores for after Christmas sales, you see we live at least an hour away from a Target or a mall.

I made sure our daughter had dinner items in her cart to get her through at least the next few days (you see it’s supposed to be ungodly cold…down to -70 with the wind chill). (Hibernating weather) The governor even closed all public schools for tomorrow! Read more

Epic Fail?…or…SCORE!

OK…

So yesterday I posted about being strong…and I’m not going spend money…blah, blah, blah.

And then today I went for my appt. – which was good by the way – and I stopped to see if a black dress was on sale.

I had talked to my husband about said black dress before I left and he agreed – go ahead and buy it!  It’s the same cut as a dress I already have in a tweed grey material…and I love it.  Compliments my shape (pear)…basic black…and I saw it two months ago which in my head equates to “it should now be on sale”!  I guess it already was on sale at $88.98 {cough, cough} and the price hadn’t changed.

Here’s the thing…I’m cheap.  Not that I buy ‘cheap’ clothing, but rather that I LOVE to get a deal.  I very RARELY buy anything – especially clothes at full price!  Remember, I used to own a consignment store?  And my favorite store in the world is TJ MAXX!  Deal-o-rama!  I love the feeling of scoring an awesome deal!  Not for just anything, but for a really good quality item at an ungodly good deal.

Well, suffice it to say I didn’t buy the dress. Read more

Merry Christmas from Motzy and Louis!

Look at these two innocent little faces…

Like they’re the sweetest little puppies in the world…

Louis arrived (along with Alex and Tom) on Saturday and the two puppies ruled the house until this morning when the three of them departed for another Christmas get-together.  It was 4 days of (controlled?) chaos!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful, crazy Christmas – like the one we’ve enjoyed here!

Best wishes to all – and may God bless you with true joy and love.
