My husband yelled at me tonight

My husband yelled at me tonight.

OK, in all honesty I yelled at myself for him.

We made a quick trip to Duluth to get Gabi (the 12 yr old) a new hamster as hers had passed away the day before New Year’s Day.  Yes it was very sad, she was far too young to die, our beautiful little Zoe (who you see in the picture).  Alas we’ve moved on (mind you Zoe is now taking up residence in a check box turned casket in our freezer until spring thaws the ground for a proper burial…yes I said I have a dead hamster in my freezer).  But I digress…

After picking up said new hamster at Petco, we passed Michael’s and before what did my wandering eyes appear but a beautiful poinsettia topiary.  Here’s how the conversation went: Read more

I love you to the Moon and back…

My husband was not supposed to buy me a Christmas gift this year.  You see I’d purchased myself a fabulous ring at one of our local festivals and it was supposed to be my Christmas gift (never mind that I wore it already in September).   But honestly, I truly wanted nothing more.  Did he listen?  No.

The man doesn’t listen.  I swear he never listens to me when it comes to gift giving.  That would be one of his few flaws.  I really, really, really didn’t want him to get me anything.  With that being said… Read more

From whence we came…

I love this little area on my wall…

The vintage kitchen tools somehow remind me of my Mom…she didn’t own these particular ones, and only had a few similar, but somehow they remind me of her.  I think it’s the red handles.  She loved red and I love vintage.  Needless to say I had to have these.

The top two pictures are of my Dad as a little boy (on the left), and my Mom as a little girl (on the right).  I love these photos and the innocence they represent.  Simple pictures of a little boy going fishing and a little girl playing with her dollies.  Beautiful snapshots of them enjoying the things they loved – and continued to love through adulthood!  Dad loved to fish and Mom loved babies.  The stories I could tell… Read more

A Thankfully Imperfect Woman’s Epiphany Moment

As I sit here writing my first blog, I am eating a piece of my daughter’s twelfth birthday cake and having a cup of Vanilla Cream decaf coffee, and it’s 6:07 a.m.Yes, I am a thankfully imperfect woman.  I am a part of the middle class. A family raising, comic strip living, ever-grateful, Christian woman who’s main goal in life is to find something wonderful in every single day.

I have an incredible husband who I credit as my gift from God, I have three girls who are all growing up faster than their Momma would like (and who I’m very proud of), and I have my life…such as it is with my version of health issues.  I’ve had my version of hard knocks in life, I’ve lived the “I have to be perfect for everyone” life, and I’m here living in the NOW for me and my family.
