My husband yelled at me tonight

My husband yelled at me tonight.
OK, in all honesty I yelled at myself for him.
We made a quick trip to Duluth to get Gabi (the 12 yr old) a new hamster as hers had passed away the day before New Year’s Day. Yes it was very sad, she was far too young to die, our beautiful little Zoe (who you see in the picture). Alas we’ve moved on (mind you Zoe is now taking up residence in a check box turned casket in our freezer until spring thaws the ground for a proper burial…yes I said I have a dead hamster in my freezer). But I digress…
After picking up said new hamster at Petco, we passed Michael’s and before what did my wandering eyes appear but a beautiful poinsettia topiary. Here’s how the conversation went:
“Ooohhh – look at those, I wonder what kind of after Christmas discount they’re offering? Oh I know, I know (as I look at my husband) – I don’t need any more Christmas decorations – you don’t have to say it – I know. We already have too many.”
I looked back at him and he looked at me and he said “Sorry for yelling at you.”
Tomorrow we’ll talk more about my Christmas decoration addiction.
For tonight – sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs…or hamsters bite.
Your friend,
Patty O
I am sure you would have found a perfect home for that poinsettia topiary! LOL!

Years ago a friend of mine kept her dead bunny all wrapped up in the freezer because he died mid-winter, too. Just so you don’t mistakenly thaw them out in the microwave for dinner. 🙂

my boys would be very impressed that you have a dead hamster in your freezer until spring. 🙂

My neighbor has 9 hamsters all in individual cages and places them on race track with balls each night. They even chase her cats through the home. It is such a riot to watch. Reading your post I couldn’t help but gather the idea that you are a die hard lover of hamsters as well. I am sorry for your loss.
