The North Pole threw up in our house.

The best laid plans….

I had great plans for writing a blog every day.  And then life got in the way this week.

I think I even talked about it in my last post…ah, yes – “Tomorrow we’ll talk more about my Christmas decoration addiction”.  See?  I did have great plans.  Well a few tomorrows later, here I am!!!

Let’s talk Christmas decorations…

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!  I love everything about the season!  Finding the perfect present, the gift wrapping, the baking, the music, the decorating – oh the decorating.

Hello, my name is Patty and I’m a Christmas-decoration-aholic.

It really is bad.

My oldest daughter Alex once told a high school boyfriend that it looked like the North Pole threw up in our house.  I do believe she was saying it with all the love she had in her little pea-pickin’ heart.

I really love decorating in the house.  Most “regular decorations” come down – even pictures off the walls – and then the fun begins!  I have numerous bins that hold all my treasures.  Some new, some old, some from family, some from friends, and more than a few that I’ve purchased over the years.  I have a thing for santas, snowmen, angels…you name it!  I love it all.  I have gotten better over the years and have toned down my purchases…after all there are only so many nooks and crannies in my house.  I didn’t get many pictures this year, but thought I’d show you a few of my favorite spots in the house.

I do believe that I got my love for Christmas decorating from my Mom.  She didn’t decorate the inside of the house as much as the outside.  Mom and Dad covered our house in lights, and every tree in the front yard…a few in the center circle…a few down the hill…a few on the other side of the circle.  It was beautiful!  People would drive out just to see our lights!

I haven’t yet figured out  how to convince my husband to cover our house in lights…but he did decide to light up the fence around the garden this year!  Yeah, I kind of went “Hmmmm” too.  But I’m not going to question why, I’ll take any outside Christmas lights I can get!  So I added a bow to the garden gate and called it good!

I have taken down my decorations for the year (yes I still had them up as of last week).  There comes that moment for me when it’s still beautiful, but I know it has to come down sooner or later so I might as well do it now.  This year it was January 6th.  Sigh.

Oh, have I mentioned that we try to find humor in everything?  Yes, well my oldest daughter Alex- the one who commented about how the North Pole threw up in our house – yeah – she now dates a wonderful young man whose father looks like and dresses up as Santa for Christmas!

Yes, Momma has a very large smile on her face.

I hope today found something for you to smile about!

  1. I still have my Christmas tree up. It usually comes down mid to late January. Winter lasts so long, and with all the white outside with no color I just keep the tree up so I can have some colors in my life. 🙂

Hey mom you forgot to mention that we have our christmas tree up outside with lights still on it but they are on a timer so that we arent wasting electricity and it only comes on when it is dark and I have to say that it is very pretty at night.
