220 Minus Your Age

As an adult the highest your pulse rate should go up is figured at 220 minus your age.

This fact (?) was just stated on last week’s episode of Bones that I’m just now watching – thank you DVR.

I enjoy watching Bones…not the blood and gore part, but there’s something fascinating to me about how they figure out who committed the murder.

Must be a flashback to my days of watching Murder, She Wrote with my Dad.  Which explains why I still love watching that show.

Angela Lansbury is my hero.  She lived this wonderful life teaching, and then reinvented herself after her husband passed away and Walaa! a mystery writer was born.  Of course, somewhere along the line murders started showing up in her life…weekly it seems if we go by the show’s schedule.  I always thought to myself…”Who on earth would want to be this woman’s friend – someone is always dying around her!”

Alas, I digress… Read more

The best laid plans….

I had great plans for writing a blog every day.  And then life got in the way this week.

I think I even talked about it in my last post…ah, yes – “Tomorrow we’ll talk more about my Christmas decoration addiction”.  See?  I did have great plans.  Well a few tomorrows later, here I am!!!

Let’s talk Christmas decorations…

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!  I love everything about the season!  Finding the perfect present, the gift wrapping, the baking, the music, the decorating – oh the decorating.

Hello, my name is Patty and I’m a Christmas-decoration-aholic.

From whence we came…

I love this little area on my wall…

The vintage kitchen tools somehow remind me of my Mom…she didn’t own these particular ones, and only had a few similar, but somehow they remind me of her.  I think it’s the red handles.  She loved red and I love vintage.  Needless to say I had to have these.

The top two pictures are of my Dad as a little boy (on the left), and my Mom as a little girl (on the right).  I love these photos and the innocence they represent.  Simple pictures of a little boy going fishing and a little girl playing with her dollies.  Beautiful snapshots of them enjoying the things they loved – and continued to love through adulthood!  Dad loved to fish and Mom loved babies.  The stories I could tell… Read more

A Thankfully Imperfect Woman’s Epiphany Moment

As I sit here writing my first blog, I am eating a piece of my daughter’s twelfth birthday cake and having a cup of Vanilla Cream decaf coffee, and it’s 6:07 a.m.Yes, I am a thankfully imperfect woman.  I am a part of the middle class. A family raising, comic strip living, ever-grateful, Christian woman who’s main goal in life is to find something wonderful in every single day.

I have an incredible husband who I credit as my gift from God, I have three girls who are all growing up faster than their Momma would like (and who I’m very proud of), and I have my life…such as it is with my version of health issues.  I’ve had my version of hard knocks in life, I’ve lived the “I have to be perfect for everyone” life, and I’m here living in the NOW for me and my family.
