Wife of the Year Moment…

There I went again…
I had planned on being such a sweet wife this morning…
Just turn off the alarm clock so Tim didn’t have to get up early. That’s all I needed to do.
Let’s just say I am NOT the keeper of the alarm clock. Tim is the one who sets the alarm clock for 5 a.m. so he can bike every day before school. Yes, he’s that disciplined. And no, I’m not.
I usually rise based on my inner alarm – which is around 7 – in time to help Gabi get ready for school and get myself ready for the babies (when I have them).
In summertime, my inner alarm sometimes hits the inner snooze button until later.
Today my inner alarm woke me at 6:30. Tim’s alarm was set for 7 (just in case) as I needed to be up and ready for the babies.
I bet you already have a clue as to what happened.
But let me lay it out for you anyway – as Sophia would say on Golden Girls:
Picture this…
Husband sleeping peacefully. I sneak around the bed to turn off the alarm.
I push the curtain over so I could get a better look at the clock buttons…still can’t see.
Start pushing buttons anyway.
First button flashes all different alarm times.
“Huh”…brain says…”wrong button”.
Try the next button…
Doesn’t do anything.
“Huh”…brain says…”not this one”.
Try the third button…
BLARING radio music fills the room. Husband JOLTS awake. I keep trying to push every button I can find to turn it off and am completely unsuccessful.
Last ditch effort: Turn husband’s bedside lamp on – now husband visibly shrinks from the light while covering his eyes.
I very loudly whisper, “I’m sorry, I’m so-so sorry!!!”
Husband reaches over and hits the correct switch to shut off the alarm – and the radio – making it look so easy.
Hrmph.
Still picturing this?
See me…performing a mental head slap while sneaking out of the room as fast as possible.
