Antiquing, Vintaging, and Consignment Shopping!

Wahoooooooooo!

It’s been a day of fun for me and two of my girls…and Tim and Tom!

I wasn’t sure if Gabi was really going to be up to the task of consignment shopping, she is her father’s daughter after all.  But then, she ever so valiantly tagged along for this part of the trip.  We even found her a few new tops for school in the fall!

What was on the agenda, you ask? Read more

Sam, Sibling Rivalry and Laughing Until You Choke!

Having fun with daughters is the same as this Pinterest photo…and Sam and I went to Duluth yesterday and just like the photo says – we had WAY too much fun!

From trying on glasses frames…

To giggling about  earlier days…

To almost choking to death in the process! Read more

Lessons from Dad…Fishing, Coffee Cans in the Boat, and Goose Hunting

I sure loved my Dad.

He taught me many lessons…

Girls can do anything, but don’t have to do everything:  Our entire family went deer hunting (for food, not sport).  Off I went to gun training (and was a pretty good shot I might add), but when it came to hunting season I decided I’d rather shoot a deer with a camera, not a gun…and Dad was ok with that.

Always keep your word:  When Dad said the kids needed to be quiet and behave or he’d turn the car around and we wouldn’t get to go to Grandma’s house…he meant it.  We found out the hard way.  Grandma’s house was about 4 hours away and we were about 3 1/2 hours into the drive when he turned around. I Choose to NOT be Belligerent

Yes, I said it.

Let’s not just look at the things we choose to be…let’s look at the things we choose NOT to be.

We’ve all had people in our lives that have brought about a better understanding of who we want to be like or who we don’t want to be like.

As much as I loved my parents, there were things they did/said that I knew I didn’t want to emulate.  And the same goes for other people that I’ve met throughout the years.

Sometimes it really is important to look at the things we don’t want to do or be like…and remember. Read more

A Tasty Science Experiment aka Pineapple-Angel Food Cake

Holy Yum.

Barbara passed this “secret” recipe (that she got off of Pinterest) with us yesterday.

Seriously the easiest and best dessert EVER.

Gabi graciously made it for us last night.

Here you go:

1 Angel Food Cake Mix (the one step kind not the two step)

1 20 oz. can of Crushed Pineapple

Mix in a large bowl as it will look like it’s blowing up…it’s like a GREAT science experiment!

Let it settle a little.  Pour into a greased 9×13 pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Easy peasy.

Serve with a dollup of Cool Whip on the top!

Yes, this is the picture of my piece tonight…

And yes, there is a bite out of it! 🙂

Have a great day!
