Cookies, Hershey’s and Crapola!

So it’s been an interesting day, to say the least.

It started at 4:30 this morning when my daughter’s alarm went off upstairs.  At about the same time I was trying to reconcile which account I’d taken $40 from…I’d picked up some items for a friend who was picking the pieces up from me today and paying me back.  But where to put it?  Ugh.

I crawled out of bed…grumbling, of course.  Made myself a cup of tea, grabbed the bag of Cranberry Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (I’d picked up at the Farmer’s Market), and sat down with a good book.  Soon I realized there just weren’t enough chocolate chips in the cookies for my taste.  A hunting I will go (or went).  One Hershey bar later…breaking it into rows…put the cookie on top…and…WALAA!  Much better. You May Want to Get the Garden Hose

Do you like the TV shows that begin with the star in a crazy chase scene and then flash the words…’3 days earlier’…on the screen?

Yeah, me neither.

However…

Picture me standing in the garage amid a puddle of beautiful tangerine orange paint. Read more

Farmers Market Fun!

I love summertime here in Northern Minnesota!

Sunshine after a long winter, beautiful open lakes, sunrises and sunsets that glow the most beautiful colors.  There’s fishing, camping, hiking…the Dorothy Molter Museum, the International Wolf Center, the North American Bear Center…wonderful restaurants, fabulous shopping, and amazing spas.  There’s bird-watching, loon-calling, and amazing Northern Lights picture-taking.  But one weekly event stands above all others…

Imperfect Organization

For years I have shuffled around the purses I’ve accumulated.

First hanging on a closet rod…to the floor…to the other end of the rod.

Not anymore…

Thanks to Pinterest and it’s amazingly creative crafters, I found the perfect solution.  (OK, in recognition of all the downsizers, yes, I could have sold or donated some, but in my way of thinking…why get rid of a good thing that you’ve already paid for and love!?!

I started with some beautiful reclaimed wood (thanks to my friend Jan).  Then I added some antique and vintage door knobs…and walaaaaa!

OK, so it wasn’t quite that easy, but not too far from it.  There were nails, screws, epoxy glue, power tools…and of course, the purses.

Here are shots of the finished products:

I know, I know…the purse hanger in the first picture is hanging crooked…and if you look really closely you’ll see my errors (it does hang straight…I just didn’t catch it when I took the picture 🙂 ).

Just a reminder of how thankfully imperfect I am.

I LOVE how this project turned out.

What do you think?

Four Angels and a Cigar, Part 4…On with Life

As life moved on, I found some interesting projects to keep myself busy with.  One of which was the metal swing.  Now, remember it looked like this?

I debated painting it bright red with white arms/base, which was what my parents looked like, but then I found a gorgeous turquoise color.  It was love at first sight. Read more
