Top 10 Things I Look Forward To…

So here it is…

My list.

The list of things I look forward to.  This list is a combination of “bucket list” items and everyday items and “someday dreams” items.  It’s not put into order by my most important item as #1, it’s more in timeline order.

As I sat down to write this list I realized there are so many more things I could put on here.  The “little things”…like watching Gabi run cross-country races this fall, or her basketball games.  Or seeing Sam off to her 2nd year at college…and the daily phone calls when she’s gone.  Or the chances I get to see Alex, Tom and my adorable grandpuppy Louis (snorts and all). My Prayer for You on This Sunday…

Another find from Pinterest, these words say it all.

God Bless…

Patty O

ps…  I promise I’ll try to be back to my wordy self tomorrow.  It’s been a crazy weekend of moving things into the basement (the storerooms are now done) and cleaning, moving, and organizing in my NEW workshop (aka old storage room).

Needless to say I’ve been having fun working playing in what will be my new workshop!

OK…full disclosure:  One of the keys in selling Tim on the idea was to describe it as our “Finishing Shop” where we’ll do all the painting/staining of the pieces he builds.

Shhhhhh…don’t tell him I’m still going to call it “my shop”!

Do What You Can Do…

This picture and its saying are fantastic – a little sassy, but fantastic!

To all my fellow auto-immune disease sufferers – I say:  Let’s raise a glass of water and toast ourselves – and to those who don’t understand and don’t want to try to understand – to heck with you!

We may take longer to do some things (work, rest, work again)…we may be more tired and achy… Read more

Lessons from Dad…Fishing, Coffee Cans in the Boat, and Goose Hunting

I sure loved my Dad.

He taught me many lessons…

Girls can do anything, but don’t have to do everything:  Our entire family went deer hunting (for food, not sport).  Off I went to gun training (and was a pretty good shot I might add), but when it came to hunting season I decided I’d rather shoot a deer with a camera, not a gun…and Dad was ok with that.

Always keep your word:  When Dad said the kids needed to be quiet and behave or he’d turn the car around and we wouldn’t get to go to Grandma’s house…he meant it.  We found out the hard way.  Grandma’s house was about 4 hours away and we were about 3 1/2 hours into the drive when he turned around. I Choose to NOT be Belligerent

Yes, I said it.

Let’s not just look at the things we choose to be…let’s look at the things we choose NOT to be.

We’ve all had people in our lives that have brought about a better understanding of who we want to be like or who we don’t want to be like.

As much as I loved my parents, there were things they did/said that I knew I didn’t want to emulate.  And the same goes for other people that I’ve met throughout the years.

Sometimes it really is important to look at the things we don’t want to do or be like…and remember. Read more
