V-Day door

ps…This is in our garage, just outside the door into the house.  It’s the middle of winter, so the heater had to be included…and then of course for a winter picnic you’ll need the thermos!

My daughter found this great lamp and spray painted it pink!

I Have a Haiwy Eaw

I had my yearly checkup the other day.  They did all the basics…

First I had my blood pressure taken.

Dr. Nicole said:  “Is it getting tight?”  This, as she was pumping and pumping and pumping the cuff.

Next she said:  “Now I need to chseck yow eyes and eaws.”

“Yowr eyes awr good.”

Right ear:  “This eaw is doughty.”

Left ear:  “This eaw isn’t doughty…but it’s kind of haiwy.”

(To which I said, rather surprised…”WHAT!?!”)

She went on to explain…”Fwom yowr haiw.”

(Whew)

Then it was time to check my heart.

She asked first “Whearw is yow haught?”

Then she listened very intently and proclaimed “Yowr haught is stwong and healthy.”

“Now I need to give yow a sot.”

I pretended to look worried and she said, “Sots let yow be helfy.  Sots have medicine.”

Then she checked my temperature and said “Yow mouf is kind of sad.”

A Kitchen Christmas

Welcome to my kitchen!

Remember when I told you my whole house changes over for Christmas?

Yes, even the kitchen.

There are a couple special pieces in my kitchen…

The “Our Father” sampler that you see is one that my Mom made when she was young.  I absolutely love it and had Tim frame it with wood from an old door we found!   Read more

A Muddy (room) Christmas

Northern Minnesota Weather Report:

Cloudy with a slight chance of snow.

With only a couple of inches on the ground, the locals are disappointed and starting to grumble.

There’s open water on some of the lakes, Ice Fishermen can’t fish, Skiers can’t ski, Sled Dogs can’t pull their sleds.  Even some of us that aren’t outdoor sports people are missing the snow!  It’s hard to believe it’s mid-December and we don’t have at least 2 feet of snow!

However, it hasn’t stopped me from indoor activities…on to the Mudroom Decorations! Read more

Cookies, Hershey’s and Crapola!

So it’s been an interesting day, to say the least.

It started at 4:30 this morning when my daughter’s alarm went off upstairs.  At about the same time I was trying to reconcile which account I’d taken $40 from…I’d picked up some items for a friend who was picking the pieces up from me today and paying me back.  But where to put it?  Ugh.

I crawled out of bed…grumbling, of course.  Made myself a cup of tea, grabbed the bag of Cranberry Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (I’d picked up at the Farmer’s Market), and sat down with a good book.  Soon I realized there just weren’t enough chocolate chips in the cookies for my taste.  A hunting I will go (or went).  One Hershey bar later…breaking it into rows…put the cookie on top…and…WALAA!  Much better.
