The Pope and I…

It all started at the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry last night…

First Barbara (my m-in-law) talked about going into the church to set up for morning mass and how she found 3 priests and a deacon.

I, of course, made a wisecrack about how it sounded like the beginning of a joke.

(Sorry Lord.)…my attempt at a quick beg for forgiveness lest I get struck down with lightning for my sassy sense of humor.

Then, Barbara told the story of how someone commented that her son (my husband) looked a little like the Pope.

Let the giggling and jokes commence…

There were comparisons held:

Tim does have a high forehead and glasses (but that’s about where the similarity in looks ends).

Tim did have a Grandpa by the name of Frank and his wife(aka Grandma)’s name is Frances.

And he is sweet with little children and babies.

And he has a strong faith in God.

My husband is a carpenter…

And a teacher…

And his students love him.

I think this is the point where the jokes began:

I asked if his being Pope made me a Mary Magdalene of sorts.

(Sorry Lord)

Sam said he could give the sign of the cross as he says “Carpe Diem” – one of his favorite sayings.  Tim said “Well, it is in Latin…”  (He says it in his classroom so much that Sam’s graduating class deemed it their class motto.)

Then Sam started singing a version of “I kissed the Pope and I liked it” – to me like little kids do when they tease adults about singing.

(Sorry Lord)

I asked if this meant I had to worship him (more than I already do)!

I said (way too loudly) – you could have a Pope-Mobile!  To which, Barbara said – The Pope’s not using it anyway!

We discussed how proud Barbara and Ron must be…

Having a son that’s the Pope…

She said “The pressures off…I surely must have a place in Heaven now!”

Keep in mind all of this conversation happened as we were in the basement of the local Catholic church.

(Sorry Lord) 🙂

Hopefully the new Pope has a sense of humor…

I’d hate to have committed blasphemy…or continue to…as I worship my honey.

He may not be the Head of the Church,

but I’ll keep him as the head of our household.

Thank God he has a sense of humor…

cause, I love this man! 🙂

(Insert eye roll from him now)
