Winter Wishes and Snowflake Kisses

Boy does that sound like a sappy title or what?Β  Yes, well, sometimes you just have to go with it.

The snow has been falling beautifully all day, adding up to a couple of inches on the ground.Β  It makes me want to go out and make a snow angel.

Almost. Read more

The best laid plans….

I had great plans for writing a blog every day.Β  And then life got in the way this week.

I think I even talked about it in my last post…ah, yes – “Tomorrow we’ll talk more about my Christmas decoration addiction”.Β  See?Β  I did have great plans.Β  Well a few tomorrows later, here I am!!!

Let’s talk Christmas decorations…

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!Β  I love everything about the season!Β  Finding the perfect present, the gift wrapping, the baking, the music, the decorating – oh the decorating.

Hello, my name is Patty and I’m a Christmas-decoration-aholic.

My husband yelled at me tonight

My husband yelled at me tonight.

OK, in all honesty I yelled at myself for him.

We made a quick trip to Duluth to get Gabi (the 12 yr old) a new hamster as hers had passed away the day before New Year’s Day.Β  Yes it was very sad, she was far too young to die,Β our beautiful little Zoe (who you see in the picture).Β  Alas we’ve moved on (mind you Zoe is now taking up residence in a check box turned casketΒ in our freezer until spring thaws the ground for a proper burial…yes I said I have a dead hamster in my freezer).Β  But I digress…

After picking up said new hamster at Petco, we passed Michael’sΒ and before what didΒ my wandering eyes appearΒ but aΒ beautiful poinsettia topiary.Β  Here’sΒ how the conversation went: Read more

I love you to the Moon and back…

My husband was not supposed to buy me a Christmas gift this year.Β  You see I’d purchased myself a fabulous ring at one of our local festivals and it was supposed to be my Christmas gift (never mind that I wore it already in September).Β Β  But honestly,Β I truly wanted nothing more.Β  Did he listen?Β  No.

The man doesn’t listen.Β  I swear he never listens to me when it comes to gift giving.Β  That would be one of his few flaws.Β  I really, really, really didn’t want him to get me anything.Β  With that being said… Read more

From whence we came…

I love this little area on my wall…

The vintage kitchenΒ tools somehow remind me of my Mom…she didn’t own these particular ones, and only had a few similar, but somehow they remind me of her.Β  I think it’s the red handles.Β  She loved red and I love vintage.Β  Needless to say I had to have these.

The top two pictures are of my Dad as a little boy (on the left), and my Mom as a little girl (on the right).Β  I love these photos and the innocence they represent.Β  Simple pictures of aΒ little boy going fishing and a little girl playing with her dollies.Β  Beautiful snapshots of themΒ enjoying the things they loved – and continued to love through adulthood!Β  Dad loved to fish and Mom loved babies.Β  The stories I could tell… Read more
