Crazy is as Crazy does…

Thank you Forest Gump…

Does anyone else have days when all you want is boring?

You’d think I would have had enough of those this winter as I was laid up.  However it seemed there was always something going on with a family members health, or a kids thing, or a husbands thing, or a doctors appt…or a…or a…

But I swear when it rains it pours.  Even when you think…ok this is all scheduled, it’ll be ok, we can handle this.  And then something else gets thrown in.

We were in Duluth on Friday for Sam’s elbow surgery and about an hour before she was taken back, Alex called saying she’d fallen on the ice.

It was a nasty fall that turned into an E.R. visit.

So I had two daughters in two different hospitals, about two hours apart.

Need I even say that many prayers were being said?

Sam’s surgery went well and Alex was sent home with pain medicine with instructions to see her regular doctor in a week if she wasn’t better.

I almost turned left instead of right as I came out of the hospital parking lot.

Left:  I could have headed down to Alex’s and had both daughters to take care of.

Right:  I could take care of Sam, and get Gabi ready for her big day, in another town two hours away (thankfully her Dad was taking her there).  Gabi was participating in yesterday’s 4-H Dog Bowl competition.  She and her team have been practicing all winter for the big event.

I had to take a right.

Alex has her boyfriend Tom to help…and she is 23 years old.  Although, you’re never too old to want your Mom to take care of you, but I just couldn’t be there.  Thank God for cell phones.

We made it home, we got Sam comfortable.  Gabi studied, and we all relaxed a little.  I skyped with Alex and all seemed to settle.

Tim’s Mom called at 9:30 to check on the patients, and told us how Grandma had fallen in the house today too.

Yesterday morning brought news of Tim’s Dad feeling dizzy and almost falling during the night.

Yes, crazy is as crazy does.  But I don’t think some people have a choice.

I think crazy just seems to follow some of us, make itself at home, and wiggle it’s little butt at us with fingers wiggling along side it’s head saying “Na-na-na-na-na!”

Today has been a bit better.

It brought a visit from a tiny little puppy and his “sister” – Gabi’s friend Cari, to work on their Energy Inventor’s Fair project.

Little Nico is just enamored with Hershey…poor old Hershey just seems to look at him with all the wisdom of  his age and you can see him think “I used to have all that energy…now go lie down and leave me alone!”

However, Nico just keeps following Hershey everywhere he goes.

They even decided they both needed to go potty in the house at the same time.

Yup, crazy is as crazy does.

Just another day in the life of Patty O!

ps…Gabi’s team took 2nd place and will be headed to State!

Sam’s doing better, with the exception of a sweet little dog trying to say hello a little to close to her arm.  And Alex is keeping herself busy as she recoups on her couch by knitting an afghan for a friend’s baby.

Grandma’s doing well with the exception of a small scar on her nose.  Ron’s back in balance.  And my sciatic seems to be doing well (cross my fingers)…the early part of last week brought those Botox shots we’d talked about earlier…you know the ones in the butt?  Well, they were more painful than expected, but if they’ll get me walking without pain, they’ll have been worth it!  In the meantime, if you missed the Botox post…here it is!https://athankfullyimperfectwoman.com/2013/02/21/botox-no-ifs-ands-or-butts-about-it/
